Waste Disposal

Household waste should be sorted and disposed under the rules of Sapporo City or Hakodate City. The rules of sorting and disposing of Sapporo City are as follows. Please respect the rules.
Sorting
Waste should be sorted into nine different categories. Please refer to the list below.
Waste Bags
Waste should be placed into designated bags or transparent bags.
- A designated bag is a special garbage bag made by Sapporo City. The waste marked “designated” on the list below should be disposed of in the designated bags, or it will not be collected. Designated bags are available at convenience stores, drug stores, and supermarkets.
- Transparent bags are non-designated transparent or semi-transparent plastic bags.
Collection Days and Times
Collection days of waste differ depending on the type of waste. The schedule varies by district. Please confirm the schedule of your residential area. The waste should be put out at the collecting point by 8:30 a.m.
Collection Point
The collection point is designated by each district. Be sure to find out where the collection point is where you live.
